What is Masonry Crack Stitching and how do we do it?
Firstly a chase must be cut into wall at four standard course intervals five hundred millimetres to the left and right of the crack. The depth of the cut or chase can vary depending on plaster depths etc.
The chase at this point must be cleaned to remove all dust and any loose particles to get a permeant grout fix.
The grout is made up of two components ,firstly add the liquid followed by the grout compound , this must be mixed with an electric mix until it reaches a creamy consistency usually after around two minutes.
The grout is then inserted into a specialist application gun.
The chase must now be washed and left wet ready to receive the grout
The grout can now be applied in a continual strip and the bar inserted ,the bar must be pushed into the grout using a trowel etc. making sure the bar is completely covered in grout. If required top up with grout and compress the joint.
The grout can now be mortar pointed to match the original mortar, this is done by using various methods of mixing different sands limes and oxides
Last but not least your home or property is cleaned spotlessly. All of the crack stitching and crack repair procedure is carried out with dust reducing tools.
